Psychology is the study of the human mind and behaviour. It’s a fascinating subject that delves into what makes us human, by examining everything from learning, memory, motivation and emotion, to thinking, personality and social behaviour.
A psychologist’s job is to understand the role of a person’s mental functions in their behaviour. There are many fields of psychology including clinical, cognitive, forensic and health psychology. For example, a clinical psychologist will assess and diagnose patients’ mental issues and psychiatric challenges.
If you are curious about how the human mind works and would like to know more about why people act the way they do and what shapes people’s personalities, you will enjoy studying psychology. An undergraduate psychology degree will offer you a pathway into a range of career options, for example clinical, educational and research psychology. For professional psychology careers, completion of both an Honours and Master’s Degrees in Psychology will be required.

When starting your psychology studies at Emeris, you will be exposed to different concepts of psychology including, but not limited to, social psychology, sensation and perception, personality psychology, cognitive psychology, abnormal psychology/psychopathology and research methodology and statistics (both quantitative and qualitative techniques). You will progress to engage at a deeper level with the introductory concepts from which you can shape your career in the field.
To study Psychology, you can enrol for an IIE Bachelor of Arts or IIE Bachelor of Social Science degree with a study area in psychology, available at Emeris.
Once you complete your three-year Bachelor’s Degree, you can articulate into the IIE Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology or IIE Bachelor of Social Science Honours with a specialisation in Psychology, and subsequently, a research Master of Philosophy, also with a specialisation in Psychology.
