Bursary applications must be submitted no later than 1 March 2026
Students registering for their first year of study with Emeris who achieved a National Senior Certificate pass (or Grade 12 equivalent) with an average of 80% across six subjects (excluding Life Orientation) qualify for an NSC Award. Please note that the NSC Award cannot be used in conjunction with an Academic Scholarship.
These bursaries form part of the prizes awarded to the top three schools participating in the Schools Quiz. Each bursary is handed over to the winning school, which then allocates it to a deserving learner of their choice.
During our annual Open Days, a bursary competition is run per Open Day. All entrants must meet the qualifying criteria, including completing the required interviews and application process, in order to participate.
This bursary is available to schools participating in our Schools Activation campaigns and is awarded through a competition open to all Grade 12 learners from these schools who apply before the closing date. The bursary covers one year of study, with the value reviewed annually.
Leadership bursaries are awarded to prospective undergraduate contact students who held a senior leadership role at the school from which they matriculated. Recipients must be registered for a full complement of modules and must attend lectures at Emeris. This bursary covers one year of study and is not renewable.
These bursaries are available to students who wish to join one of our competitive high-performance sports clubs – e.g. rugby (Durban North), Cricket (Cape Town), Hockey (KZN), Football (Ruimsig), Netball (Cape Town), Water polo (National), Softball (Pretoria), Athletics (National) and Basketball (Sandton) – and have demonstrated a high level of sporting achievement. Awards are determined based on sporting performance, positional needs, and the transformation requirements of each sports club.
These bursaries are available to students who have achieved National Senior Protea colours in 2025. Preference is given to students competing in sporting codes in which Emeris participates at the USSA (University Sport South Africa) Championships. Focus sports include athletics, golf and swimming.
This bursary is awarded to students who have an immediate family member currently studying at Emeris. The bursary is valued at 5% of the tuition for the qualification the student is registered for in the current academic year, provided the account payer is the same individual or company. The calculation excludes the cost of academic materials. This bursary applies to both contact and distance learning, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.
The Aggregate Distinction Award is granted to students who achieve an overall programme average of 75% in the previous academic year. For contact students, this requires a complete module load as per the minimum completion time of the qualification. For distance students, a minimum of six modules must have been completed in the previous year. Repeat modules are excluded, and terms and conditions apply.
This bursary recognises student leadership at Emeris in cultivating a rich, diverse and inclusive campus life. Any current student elected to the Student Life Squad Committee will receive a leadership bursary. This is a one-year bursary awarded based on participation, leadership and achievement.
This bursary recognises leadership at Emeris in cultivating community outreach, volunteerism and citizenship. Any current student who is elected to Emeris Cares will receive a leadership bursary. This is a one-year bursary awarded based on participation, leadership and achievement.
This bursary recognises leadership at Emeris for the promotion and advocacy of the student voice by championing students’ interests. Any current student elected to the Emeris Voice Committee will receive a leadership bursary. This is a one-year bursary awarded based on participation, leadership and achievement.
This bursary recognises leadership at Emeris by strengthening engagement between career services and the student community. Any current student elected to serve as a Career Services Ambassador will receive a leadership bursary. This is a one-year bursary awarded based on participation, leadership and achievement.
This bursary recognises leadership at Emeris. Any current student elected to the Sports Committee will receive a leadership bursary. This is a one-year bursary awarded based on performance.

The Sports Club Administrator is responsible for coordinating and managing their campus sports club, and the bursary applies only to the sports clubs offered at each campus.
