Application for External Academic Credits

Helpful hints

Read through the below for further information

For students who want to apply for credits for modules from a completed /incomplete qualification done at another accredited and registered provider.

  • Credit can only be awarded at the same or lower NQF level and cannot be awarded at a higher level than the credit was originally earned. Similarly credit values can only be awarded at the same or a lower level.
  • Applications can only be processed for students who have been allocated a student or prospect number.
  • Students must attend class and undertake all forms of assessment until the outcome of the application is known.
  • Please complete the external credit request form and submit it with your ticket.

Student needs to provide original academic record (proof of subjects/modules passed/portfolio of evidence). *

  • Documentation detailing the learning outcomes for each module / unit standard. 
  • The name and content page of the prescribed textbook is not sufficient. Outcomes and information related to the programme/ course studied that will enable assessment of outcomes, credits and content are required.* In the case of non-South African qualifications:
  • SAQA equivalence assessment of the qualification, outcomes and information related to the programme course studied that will enable the same assessment as for local qualification.
  • Proof of the accreditation status of the institution and qualification in the country of origin.
