Biography

Wihann holds a B.Ing and MEng and is currently pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Johannesburg. His expertise spans Hydraulic Engineering, Water Management, Engineering Management, and Engineering Education. He is a candidate engineer with ECSA and an active member of SAICE, IWA, and WISA. Wihann began his career at UJ, where he served as Lecturer, Course Coordinator, and Head of the Learning Centre & Computer Lab, teaching thousands of students over a decade and managing diverse academic and administrative teams. He contributed to UJ’s Engineering Society for over five years, including two years on its executive committee. He later joined Emeris, advancing from Lecturer and Programme Manager and Head of Programme to his current role as National Head of Engineering within the School of Engineering, Science & Health. He founded and mentors the IIE Engineering Society, supporting SAICE, SAIEE, SAIMechE, and EWB student chapters, and serves as an executive member of the IIE’s Golden Key International Honour Society. Wihann has developed curricula for face-to-face, blended, and online courses and led the rollout of South Africa’s first private BEng programmes in Civil, Electrical & Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering. Committed to social justice and animal welfare, he has dedicated over 800 volunteer hours to community service.
