Biography
Vian Roos is a visual communication lecturer and designer with over thirteen years of experience in the design industry and higher education. He holds an MA in Design, and his academic work focuses on developing design approaches that reflect African aesthetics, cultural knowledge systems, and lived experiences. Vian also examines food culture and identity through visual communication, using design as a tool to document and reinterpret South African culinary narratives. His creative achievements include receiving a Merit Award in the 2025 Sasol New Signatures Art Competition and being recognised as one of the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans in 2018.
