Biography

Suzanne is a Registered Counsellor and at present a PhD (Psychology) candidate at Stellenbosch University. For her PhD (Psychology) she is developing a CBT-based, parent-delivered, psycho-educational intervention for children in Grades 5-7 from public primary schools in South Africa. Suzanne’s research interests include developing mental health interventions for children and young people to be facilitated to them by mental health practitioners, as well as developing mental health interventions for children and young people to be facilitated to them by their parents (primary caregivers / legal guardians) with the support from mental health practitioners. Suzanne is passionate about conducting mental health research that can make a practical contribution to mental health services, and for mental health services to be informed by evidence-based research. A notable achievement is that Suzanne received a Harry Crossley Foundation (Doctoral Studies) scholarship for 2023, 2024, and 2025. Another notable achievement is that Suzanne is one of the co-authors of a Wiley Top Cited Article in Child and Adolescent Mental Health among work published between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2023.
