Biography
Dr Pieter A. le Roux is a Senior Lecturer – Research, Programme Leader, and the National Head of Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronic Engineering at Emeris. He is also a member of the Research and Ethics Committee of The IIE, contributing to research quality assurance, ethical compliance, and professional development across the institution.
Dr le Roux holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg, where his research focused on enhancing the fatigue life of Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloys through the optimisation of machining-induced residual stress fields. His academic and professional interests include material science, manufacturing methods, and machine design.
Before joining Emeris, Dr le Roux worked as a consultant engineer in the mining and automotive sectors, specialising in the design, testing, and optimisation of structural and mechanical systems.
He has presented at international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals on surface integrity and fatigue life optimisation. Dr le Roux remains actively involved in postgraduate supervision, applied research, and the advancement of engineering education and innovation within South Africa.
