Research Interests

  • Psychology of high performance and wellbeing – Exploring the psychological, organisational and cultural factors that enable individuals and systems to achieve and sustain optimal functioning, resilience and excellence across educational and professional settings.
  • Criminology – Exploring the psychological and social factors that influence criminal behaviour, including offender motivation, decision making, and patterns of offending.
    Investigating the experiences of victims of crime, and the role of empathy and evidence in promoting fair restorative and effective criminal justice responses.
  • Learning environments that foster engagement, adaptability and the development of professional competence through applied learning.

Biography

Pat Scalone is an academic with a multidisciplinary background in psychology, criminology and education. She is currently pursuing a PhD. Her research explores how individuals and systems achieve and sustain excellence, focusing on the psychological and organisational conditions that enable optimal functioning, resilience and peak performance. Alongside this, Pat is interested in how applied learning environments enhance and deepen academic learning. In addition, she has an interest in criminal behaviour from a forensic psychology perspective, examining the motivations, decision-making processes and patterns of offending that inform both investigative practice and justice system interventions.
