Biography

Natasha Buitendag is a senior lecturer in Teaching and Learning at Emeris, Ruimsig, where she serves as the module leader and Head of Programme for Management Accounting at the postgraduate level of the Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting. Alongside her academic responsibilities, Natasha brings extensive business experience to her teaching, having served as the Managing Director of one of South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical companies and later establishing and running her own enterprise.

Her passion for accounting education, business, and entrepreneurship is reflected in her research contributions. She has published work on firm characteristics and excellence in integrated reporting, as well as on communication competencies within accounting education. These publications highlight her interest in both disclosure quality and the soft skills required in professional training.

Natasha is currently pursuing her doctoral studies, focusing on mapping the entrepreneurial competencies of South African chartered accountants and examining how the SAICA training model cultivates skills such as risk tolerance, innovation, and opportunity recognition.
