Biography
Jayseema Jagernath is the Deputy Dean in the School of Management within the Faculty of Commerce at Emeris. She is responsible for the academic management and quality assurance of Management Studies programmes delivered across campuses nationally. Jayseema holds a Master of Commerce degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is currently a PhD candidate. Her professional journey began in the corporate sector before transitioning into academia, allowing her to bring practical, real-world insights into her academic leadership and teaching practice. Prior to her academic career, she worked within the non-governmental sector, where she gained experience in supporting rural communities across South Africa with the development and management of resources. Her academic specialisations include Finance, Investments, Banking, and Management. She is deeply committed to advancing women’s empowerment and gender equity within higher education and broader societal contexts. Her current research interests include entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education, numeracy education, feminism and gender-based issues in contemporary society, leadership, and sustainability in higher education.
