Biography
Cwayita Notshokovu is an information professional who holds a Master of Library & Information Studies and a Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies from the University of Cape Town. She also holds an Honours degree in Community Development and Bachelor of Arts degree from University of the Western Cape. Professionally, Cwayita has over five years of experience in the Library and Information Services field, currently serving as a Postgraduate Information Specialist at the Independent Institute of Education (IIE), Emeris (formerly known as the IIE Varsity College) and previously held roles as Information Specialist at the IIE Vega School, Metadata Librarian (in the graduate programme) at the National Library of South Africa, and has volunteered and worked at Eikendal Public Library in the EPWP programme.
Her current research focuses on information literacy in public libraries, particularly how public libraries can support school learners with information literacy instruction. Her master’s dissertation examined the readiness of public libraries to deliver information literacy instruction to school learners.
Cwayita has presented in the LIASA Annual Conference 2025 on the topic “Role of public libraries in supporting information literacy instruction for school learners in disadvantaged communities”. She also presented in the City of Cape Town Public Library Seminar 2025.
