Biography

Dr Aneesa Moolla is an accomplished researcher with a multidisciplinary background bridging psychology, public health, and health systems research. She holds a PhD in Psychology and brings more than a decade of senior-level experience in research management, strategic programme leadership, and evidence-informed policy support. Her work has spanned higher education, large-scale donor-funded initiatives, monitoring and evaluation, and regulatory and ethics governance. Dr Moolla’s research interests centre on health systems strengthening, behavioural and mental health, implementation science, and the optimisation of research processes for improved data quality and impact.

During her work as a Principal Researcher and member of the Senior Management Team at the Health Economics and Epidemiology Research Office (HE²RO) at the University of the Witwatersrand, she led methodology design, scientific writing development, project oversight, and strategic stakeholder engagement across national and international portfolios. In addition to her research leadership, Dr Moolla currently teaches at Emeris (Ruimsig), where she contributes to student development through active, constructivist learning approaches and applied psychology teaching.
