Biography

André van der Westhuizen is the Head of Education at The IIE’s Emeris campus in Sandton. He completed his initial teacher training with a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Further Education and Training at the University of Pretoria and began his career teaching Geography at a public high school in Gauteng. André holds multiple postgraduate qualifications spanning psychology, inclusive education, higher education, and research supervision.

He is actively engaged in the training and development of pre-service teachers and is passionate about strengthening research capacity in teacher education. André primarily lectures research methodology and research design to final-year Bachelor of Education (BEd) students and also supervises their research projects.
