The IIE Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development, available at Emeris, is structured in accordance with the HEQSF guidelines and will provide students with the knowledge, skills and applied competencies identified by the mobile application and web development industry to be employed or become an entrepreneur in building mobile apps and websites.
The purpose of the IIE Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development is twofold. It will provide students with basic introductory knowledge, cognitive and conceptual tools and practical techniques for an entry-level career, or for further higher education studies in the field of mobile application and web development.
The IIE Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development is aimed at students who are interested in the client side of mobile application and web development.

In the IIE Faculty of Science and Technology: School of Computer Science graduates of the Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development can articulate into the IIE Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences in Application Development.
The IIE Higher Certificate in Mobile Application and Web Development is accredited by the Higher Education Quality Council (HEQC) of the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and is registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as a 120-credit qualification on level 5 (SAQA ID: 117914).
Graduates of the IIE Higher Certificate in Business Principles and Practice can articulate into the IIE Bachelor of Commerce should you meet the requirements.

For students based in South Africa, online students may select any campus of The Emeris as their Examination Centre.
An alternative examination centre is only permissible for students studying abroad and those located in a province of South Africa where there is no Emeris campus. If there is no Emeris campus within reach, an alternative venue will need to be sourced by you. For non-Emeris venues, there is an alternative venue levy per module.
Students will also receive access to a Virtual Machine to run required software – this is accessible from your own device as well or can be accessed via the campuses’ lab computers.
Exams are written at an exam centre and in some instances online. These details will be specified in your programme assessment schedule.
