About this qualification

The IIE Bachelor of Public Health, available at Emeris, is a multidisciplinary and flexible degree that equips students with the knowledge and skills to address public health challenges both locally and globally. This programme is designed to prepare students for a wide range of career opportunities in public, private and non-profit sectors.

Throughout the degree, students gain exposure to diverse stakeholders through collaborations, placements and internships with both local and international partners. This ensures graduates develop a global perspective while engaging in practical, community-based experiences.

Minimum Admission Requirements
  • National Senior Certificate (NSC): Bachelor’s Degree pass with 50%
  • National Certificate (Vocational) [NC(V)]: Bachelor’s Degree pass with English at 50%
  • Senior Certificate (SC): Endorsement required with English at 50%
  • Senior Certificate (Amended) [SC(a)]: Bachelor pass with English at 50%
  • International Applicants: An USAf Exemption Certificate is required meeting the minimum of 50% for English OR requisite English test

Study further with our pathways

For the Faculty of Science & Technology, School of Engineering, Science and Health, graduates of the IIE Bachelor of Public Health may be eligible to apply for the Honours in Public Health and the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health, subject to meeting admission requirements.

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Arts in Public Health is accredited by the Higher Education Quality Council (HEQC) of the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and is registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as a 360-credit qualification on level 7 (SAQA ID: 91996). Professional Recognition: Graduates are eligible to join the Public Health Association of South Africa (PHASA).
