IIE Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering

Are you a creative problem-solver, driven to build a better world?

An ECSA-endorsed degree where innovation and sustainability meets infrastructure

About this qualification

The IIE Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering programme, available at Emeris, is accredited by the CHE and endorsed by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). The Engineering Council of South Africa is the only signatory in Africa to the Washington Accord, therefore allowing for global recognition.

South Africa and the African continent at large are experiencing a shortage of skilled Civil Engineers, which affects the fundamental functioning of the country’s economy, with far reaching effects on the globalised business environment. Upon graduating with this Civil Engineering degree, your skills will be in high demand, making you sought after by potential employers.

You will be well-prepared to enter the industry upon graduating. Unlike traditional engineering programmes, this Bachelor of Engineering programme will expose you to the role of engineering in the real world as early as the first year of the programme. Our programme ensures that you are equipped with first-hand experience of the value that engineering adds to improving the quality of lives in communities.

The IIE Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering is an integrated curriculum designed by top engineers. It equips you with a solid scientific foundation in modern Civil Engineering design and the skills to create physical and social environments for the 21st Century.

Based on contemporary sustainability theory, the degree will introduce you to issues like the fundamental mathematical and physical sciences in theory and practice, the application of engineering sciences to Civil Engineering projects and key expertise in Geotechnical, Hydraulic, Structural and Transportation Engineering. This is a degree for people who want to build a better world.
