About this qualification

The IIE Bachelor of Business Science Honours, available at Emeris, aims to develop critical thinking and reflective skills in graduates holding a Bachelor of Commerce (with one of the management disciplines at NQF level 7) or an equivalent degree. In response to industry demand, the programme builds upon a broad undergraduate business foundation to deepen students’ insight into core management fields. It extends knowledge of contemporary management theories within today’s business context and engages students in research methodologies and techniques that allow them to analyse and apply their understanding to real-world business challenges.

This qualification equips students with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical management skills to progress in their careers. Graduates will gain strong leadership and problem-solving capabilities, enhanced by a focus on sustainable and ethical business practices relevant to both local and global contexts. Admission requirements

Minimum Admission Requirements:

An appropriate Bachelor’s Degree OR an appropriate Advanced Diploma provided that a 360 credit Diploma or appropriate equivalent has been completed

International Admission Requirements:

A SAQA NQF L7 Evaluation Certificate in an appropriate field and meeting the additional admission requirements.

Curriculum

Year 1
  • IBMA8411 International Business and Management: Equip students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking required to analyse the global forces shaping international business considering the macro business environments of different regions and countries from a South African perspective.
  • MALE8411 Management and Leadership: Provides students with an in-depth innovative exploration of leadership and management in business, focusing mainly on the interrelationships of leadership and management in business.
  • ECSU8412 Economic Sustainability: Equips students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking required to examine how economically sustainable and responsible business practices support long-term economic growth, which in turn positively impacts communities socially, environmentally and culturally.
  • COMI8412 Contemporary Management and Innovation: Provides students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary management theories, approaches and practices, including organizational behaviour and change.
  • RPBS8419 Research Project for the Business Sciences: Guides students in the application of research methodologies to the development of a research project in their respective discipline.
  • RMBS8411 Research Methodology for the Business Sciences: Equips students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking required to design, conduct, and evaluate research at an honours level.

For the Faculty of Commerce, graduates of The IIE Bachelor of Business Science (Honours) may be eligible to apply for the Master of Business Administration, subject to meeting admission requirements.
